This week was exhausting. On Thursday night, Emily came down with some sort of virus. Without going into too much detail, we have needed to change her diaper much more frequently due to a condition that starts with a “D”. She developed a horrible diaper rash that was so painful that she would scream when we changed her. Luckily, we got that under control after a few days and she is no longer in pain (and doesn’t seem to have any other symptoms, like a fever). However, we have had to get up in the middle of the night every night to change her at least once, and sometimes twice. As a result, we are absolutely exhausted. Nothing like when she was first born I guess, but we are both used to getting relatively uninterrupted sleep most nights. So, this has been a difficult transition. We’re hoping that she will get better soon!
Needless to say, we did not try solids again this past weekend, but are hoping that she will be back to normal in time to try this coming weekend. Another new development this week is that she is reaching for EVERYTHING. We carry her around and she is constantly turning and trying to grab the nearest object, whether it is a cabinet handle, towel, or ear!
