Emily turned 10 months old last week. It is impossible to get an accurate height/weight, but we are guessing she is around 30 inches long and 20 pounds. She is really starting to seem like a little girl instead of a baby. Here is what's new:
As of Friday, January 29th, she is officially waving goodbye. It's really more of an arm flap than a wave, but it is definitely deliberate. She can also now stand for upwards of 30 seconds at a time all by herself. She's always done it standing in front of her play table, but we've seen her stand without supporting herself on it for 30+ seconds.
Her newest thing is a fascination with this little lion plush toy that goes inside of her "What's Inside" box (see my last post). She will go through the box, pulling each of the toys out. If she pulls out something other than the lion, she immediately drops it and shoves her hand back inside. When she finally finds the lion, she exclaims, holds onto it, and gets up to go play with another toy. There was one morning where she carried the lion around with her for 2+ hours.
The picture is from an indoor play area that is free and open to the public at a local church. They have a track running around the outside of the large room and then playground equipment on the inside. There are murals painted all along the walls. We've taken Emily there a couple of times, and our parents have taken her quite a bit as well. She doesn't quite know how to interact with other little kids yet. One little boy ran up to her in the stroller, said "Hi baby!" and started tickling her feet! Emily looked surprised for about 30 seconds and then burst into tears. So, we've got a little socializing to do!
